Wes AndersonDirector of the Academy-Award winning film The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), which claimed awards for Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score,  Anderson has been involved with film for over 20 years making comedies and animated features.

Born in Houston, Texas, Anderson made super-8 movies in his childhood, and attended the University of Austin, Texas, where he befriended future actor Owen Wilson. They made short films which aired on local cable-access, including Bottle Rocket, which was screened and favorably received at Sundance Film Festival, and later turned into a feature film (1996). Anderson attracted the attention of film auteur Martin Scorsese who has publicly admired his directing style.

Anderson followed up with the teen film Rushmore (1998) which he based on his high school experiences; The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) (nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay), Life Aquatic (2004), Darjeeling Limited (2007), the animated feature The Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), which earned an Oscar nomination, and Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Anderson’s latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), starred Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, F. Murray Abraham, and Saoirse Ronan, and more, along with several of his regular collaborators including Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman. Set in the 1930s, it followed the adventures of M. Gustave, the hotel’s concierge, making “a marvelous mockery of history, turning its horrors into a series of graceful jokes and mischievous gestures,” according to the New York Times. The film has been one of Anderson’s greatest critical and commercial successes, grossing nearly $175 million worldwide and earning dozens of award nominations including nine Oscar nominations with four wins.
