Megan Ellison is one of the hottest young producers in Hollywood, famous not just for her lineage (daughter of Oracle co-founder, billionaire Larry Ellison) but for the quality of films she has been involved with since her explosive entry onto the film scene.

Born in 1986, Ellison started working in film in 2006 after she approached filmmaker Katherine Brooks (Loving Annabelle) about helping her finance a film. A number of small films resulted in the next few years (Waking Madison, Main Street, Passion Play) , none of them achieving critics attention or box office sales. It wasn’t until she backed Hollywood favorites the Coen Brothers in 2010, and their remake of the western film True Grit, that commercial and critical success broke.

She went on to produce and co-finance the thriller Catch .44, and Lawless, and in 2011 founded Annapurna Pictures, claiming to take a “silicon valley” approach to filmmaking and encouraging daring and avante guard films. She has since released films like The Master, Zero Dark Thirty, Her and American Hustle.

In 2014 Ellison was only the fourth person–and the first woman– to receive two Best Picture Academy Award nominations in the same year, for the films Her and American Hustle.
