Matthew Watson

Matthew Watson

matthew-watson2-300x226UK-based director and producer Matthew Watson was born in Hong Kong but cut his teeth working extensively in television in the United Kingdom, notably on the hit television show Top Gear. In 2007 he formed his own production company, Zealot Films, and by 2009 he set out to write, direct and produce his first feature-length documentary, Cambodia: The Virginity Trade. The film was acclaimed at festivals around the world and is still screened as an educational tool in Cambodia. Watson also fundraised to save the girls featured in the film from their life of slavery. He later made a similar documentary about the sex trade, The Girls of Phnom Penh in 2010, writing, directing and producing the film. In 2012 he wrote and directed the TV movie, Please Mister: The Tony Miller Story.
