Iranian actress, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya has been awarded a Special Mention for Best Performance By An Actress at the 2015 Asia Pacific Screen Awards for her performance in Morteza Farshbaf’s ‘Avalanche.’
This multi-award winning actress first got involved in theater during her teen years, and studied at Daneshsara –ye Honar-e Tehran, where she received her degree in theatre. She is hailed as one of the most influential actresses of Iran’s post-revolutionary film industry
Born in Tehran, Iran in 1961, Arya has been nominated no less than nine times for Best Actress award at the Fair International Film Fest. She is also a four-time winner of the Crystal Simorgh, – the most prestigious award given by Fair International Film Fest.
She made her screen debut in 1989 with Reyhaneh, a film directed by Alireza Raisian, released in 1990. Since then, she has worked steadily, becoming an industry legend in her home country with 28 acting credits.
She worked with her actor husband Ahmad Hamed in the 2006 film Men at Work, which currently rates 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and took Best Film Award at Traverse City Film Festival.
